First Broken Bone

Friday night started out really good... Kade was with Mark and his cousin and Joe and I were at the movies. Mark texted during the movie and said he had to work the next morning so could I come get Kade after the show. Of course I said yes... The movie ended around 10 and we got to Kade around 10:30. Apparently, around 10:15 Kade was horsing around (probably doing his "karate") and fell from his cousins bed and landed wrong! Right when I got there, I saw that his arm was disfigured - poor kid. We went straight to Primary's, where the rest of the world was on a Friday night - the place was PACKED!! Kade was the only one in the waiting room with an injury. All of the other kids were barking like seals or had snot dripping down their face (gross, wipe your kids face!!!!). I wish I could help every one of those kids, they all looked so sad. Since Kade wasn't really in a lot of pain or having breathing problems he got bumped to the end of the list. Finally, around two hours after we got there he got his x-ray... I saw the fracture right away - even though the x-ray techs aren't allowed to tell you what they see - I saw it.

So, if you put your forearm horizontally in front of your face - that is the angle of this pic. The bones should look like one bone on the x-ray. Instead, the bone is completely angled out to the left and clearly broken.

I guess this is an injury only a mother would see. I know the "shape" of his arm - yes, I know how weird that sounds. It looks dented in...
Again, with the dented arm.
A little tired after his morphine.

After the morphine had awhile to kick in, he realized his wires made him look like Optimus Prime... FUNNIEST THING EVER!

We ended up waiting until about 5 AM for the Ortho team to be available (they were busy reattaching a foot apparently). Once they were ready, the happy juice was administered. It took the Doc about 2.5 minutes to BRUTALLY reset his arm and get it all 'casted'. The only problem was waking him up from the sedation - it's a hard thing to do at 5 AM with a kid that didn't have a nap. They sent him home with Lortab and now he is a happy camper.
 g
Here he is showing off his temporary cast. He will get his real one on Wednesday (better not be red, BOO UTES!!) and will have to wear it for 6 weeks.

He doesn't know it yet but, we got him a scooter for his b-day on Saturday the 27th. I am freaking out that #1 he will be mad that he can't ride it because of his gorked out (casted) arm or #2 I will be too paranoid to let him ride it... what to do, what to do??

Poor Kade-buddy! The crazy thing about your story was that Taylor once was doing karate (at the babysitter's house) and broke his arm. Maybe karate should be outlawed! I hope he has a speedy recovery.
